George Lanum, born into a musical family in Staunton, Virginia, learned the value of hard work early on. To buy his first guitar—previously owned by his grandfather—he had to mow lawns, instilling in him a vital lesson: nothing worth having comes easy. When you put in the effort, you appreciate it even more.
Over the decades, George has played in more than a dozen bands, traveling up and down the East Coast. Whether as a band member or a leader, he quickly absorbed the toughest lessons of band life: dedication, determination, and perseverance. His passion for playing guitar is only matched by his love for performing on stage and entertaining audiences. This experience reinforced the idea that achieving your goals requires significant time, energy, and effort.
A near-death experience shifted George’s perspective, igniting a newfound zest for life and a desire to be present in each moment. When he’s not on stage, you can find him capturing the scene with his camera or engaging in deep conversations with strangers. “I love people, and I have to see them smile,” he says. This insight led him to realize that the only way to receive is to give. By sharing his time, energy, and even just a listening ear, he has discovered a deeper purpose in life.
George's musical journey has taken him to places he never imagined, and the greatest lesson of all is that this journey has only just begun.
